Your Guide to Translating Websites

This page offers detailed information on how to translate websites directly in your web browser. The translation feature in browsers such as Chrome and Firefox allows users to access content in various languages. Follow our step-by-step guide to understand the simple process of using this tool to translate foreign language websites.

  • Translate Websites in Chrome

If you come across a page in a language you don't understand, you can translate it with Chrome this way:

Step 1: Open Chrome on your computer.

Step 2: Navigate to a foreign language website.

Step 3: Click on "Translate", which is located to the right of the address bar.

Step 4: Select the desired language from the list.

Step 5: The webpage will be translated within Chrome.

    Troubleshooting steps:

    • If the translation is not working, try refreshing the website first.
    • If refreshing does not work and the page is still not translated, perform a right-click anywhere on the page. Then, in the context menu, select "Translate to [Language]" option.
  • Firefox Translation

Step 1: When visiting a webpage in a supported language, the translation panel should automatically open. If it doesn't, click on the translation icon in the toolbar or select "Translate Page" from the menu.

Step 2: Firefox will automatically detect the language of the page. If you need to change it, use the top dropdown menu in the translation panel.

Step 3: Next, choose your desired translation language from the bottom dropdown menu in the translation panel. This should be pre-populated with your first preferred language, but you can change it via the dropdown.

Step 4: Click "Translate" to have the entire page translated.

Step 5: If you need to revert the page back to the original language, click on the translation icon in the toolbar and select "Show Original".

Tip: You can also access the translation panel by right-clicking anywhere on the webpage and selecting the "Translate Page" option.
